On October 16, a delegation from the Abu Dhabi School of Management (ADSM), accompanied by Dr. David Tsiklauri, Head of Strategic Development at Caucasus University, visited the Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG) in Tbilisi. The group met with Aleksi Aleksishvili, Chairman and CEO of PMCG and former Minister of Economic Development and Minister of Finance of Georgia, to discuss Georgia’s economic landscape, the development industry, and career opportunities in the sector.

PMCG is an international development consulting company that supports progress in transitional and developing countries. Its work covers policy advising, institutional development, monitoring and evaluation, and research. With more than 500 projects in 40 countries, the company gave our guests a clear picture of how consulting can help drive reform and economic growth.

During the meeting, Mr. Aleksishvili spoke about the development industry and the role consulting plays in supporting governments, the private sector, and civil society. Drawing on his experience as a senior government official, he offered a firsthand perspective on economic reform. Participants also learned which skills and experience the sector values, as well as the career paths it can offer young professionals. The conversation was open and engaging, with participants asking questions about working in international projects and building a career in the field.

For ADSM participants, the meeting offered an inside view of the development industry and a chance to connect with professionals who work in it every day. The visit was part of the International Learning Experience in Georgia, organized in cooperation with the Caucasus Training Center in the UAE, and it opened the door to future cooperation with Georgia’s professional community.

We are grateful to Mr. Aleksishvili and the PMCG team for their time, openness, and the insights they shared with our guests.
